Founded in 2019, Josh Leppard developed Soft Rigging Solutions following his involvement as the leader of a group of first responders to a dozer that was overturned down a steep embankment that unfortunately ended up being a fatality. The recovery team carried heavy recovery equipment, including heavy-duty slings weighing 140 kgs and Steel D shackles weighing 58kgs down a steep embankment to upright the dozer. Following this experience, Josh set about to redefine rigging by making the use of dangerous, heavy steel D-Shackles and Kevlar slings redundant.
As a keen offshore yacht racer, Josh Leppard was aware of lightweight synthetic rope and soft shackles made specifically for the marine industry. These products removed the steel, reduced the weight, and provided exceptional strength properties. The resulting innovation is a product range that harnesses technology’s benefits, reducing risk and downtime while improving safety and inclusive work practices.

The Shackles are made of Dyneema which is one of the world’s strongest and reliable synthetic fibres available. High UV and chemical resistant, chafe tolerance, this is same product used for bullet proof vests.
Jobs of hooking slings and shackles to machinery used to take two and three physically capable persons, can now be carried out by anyone on site due to the light weight and strength of our products.

SRS wins the Hastings Deering Safety Initiative Award at the 2022 Queensland Mining Awards! Typically, SUD’s on dump truck trays have been very heavy, impractical and have the potential to cause injury. The Soft Rigging Solutions SUD drastically reduces weight to a mere 4.2-14.2kg whilst still adhering to relevant standards. Consequently, safety is improved, enabling staff inclusion and simultaneously increasing production by reducing machine downtime.
Our product range is widely used throughout the mining industry and across a great range of applications and projects. Projects such as shipping - for use with tug tow lines and in the aquaculture industry to secure fish factories to fish pens. Soft Rigging Solutions have been used for securing heavy loads, where our shackles have replaced chains for tie downs as the correct spec chains were too heavy to handle safely. Across agriculture, our products encourage safety upgrades to common procedures, removing farming equipment from snig chains and the massive risks they bring with stored energy. Rescue teams such as the fire service have also adopted our technology to secure vehicles that are perched in precarious positions so a rescue and be undertaken with no risk to the rescuers.
